Chennai International Queer Film Festival 2019 (CIQFF) is scheduled to commence its seventh Reel Demands on Friday 2 August. In relation to a panel debate on LGBTQA+ freedoms following NALSA judgments and on Johar's Supreme Court, this three-day showcase will showcase 26 movies from 12 nations. The festival will also include the opening by Raahi, a Bengaluru-based band of sex and sexual minorities of the multicultural show Freedom Fatima.
This is the first such festival in Hyderabad since the 2018 judgment to decriminalize Section 377 of the Indian penal code is a judicial decision of the Supreme Court. The 2019 CIQFF, which co-operateswith Nirangal, Chennai Queer Café (CQC), SAATHII, and the East-West Counseling and Training Centre, will be organized by Orinam and Goethe-Institut.
