Data communication

Data communication means exchange of data by way of transmission mediums such as wire cables between the source and a recipient. The communication of data shall be said to be local if the communicator is situated in the same building or geographically similarly restricted.

Source and recipient meanings are very simple. The data transmission device is known as the source and the receiving device is called the receiver. Data communication aims at data transfer and data maintenance, but not at the actual generation of information at the source and recipients in Data communication.

A system of data communication can collect data from distant locations via data transmission circuits, and then deliver the results to remote locations. A larger view of the data communication networks is provided in the figure. Different currently widely used data communication techniques evolved either to enhance existing data communication techniques or to replace them with better features and options. The selection of communications systems also involves data communication, for example, baud rates, modems, routers, LAN, WAN, TCP / IP or ISDN. Therefore, these terms should be reviewed and understood and data communication methods developed gradually.

Basic Components of data communication.

Sender: The device that generates the message and sends it.

Receiver: The message is received by the device is called receiver.

Message: It is to be communicated information or data. It can be a combination of text, numbers, pictures, sound or video.

Medium: It's the physical channel or path by which the message is transmitted to the sender. The medium can be mounted as twisted pair wire, coaxial wiring, optic or wireless, such as laser, radio and microwave.

Protocol: This is a set of rules governing interdevice communication. Both sender and recipient follow the same communication protocols.

The effectiveness of data communications depends on four basic characteristics these are follows.

  1. Delivery: Data shall be delivered to the correct destination in the correct order.
  2. Accuracy: The information must be deliver accurately.
  3. Timeliness: the data should be provided in a timely manner.
  4. Jitter: The uneven time of arrival of the packet is causing uneven quality.

Networking

Networking means the entire computer networking process, including wired and wireless technology, in terms of hardware, protocols and software. It applies theories from various fields of technology such as IT, computer science and computer / electrical engineering.

Networking, also known as computer networking, is an exchange of information between nodes over an information system medium. Networking not only includes network design, building and utilization, but also network infrastructure management, maintenance and operation, software and policies
